I agree on that. Graf is too good for anyone to dominate. Seles could not even dominate Graf in a slump in the early 90s. She dominated the womens game overall those couple years but not Graf herself as you said. The Williams at their peak are better players than Seles but still would not dominate prime Graf. They and maybe Henin are the only current ones to give any challenge though, and only at their peak (which didnt last that long). Hingis, Jankovic, even Davenport would be clobbered.

Good at least we can agree on one thing. Nevertheless, at that point of her career, Steffi had more australian open wins than french opens.

Competitive, yes of course. And could have beaten Graf. But they would not have been able to dominate Graf.Nobody could do that.

LOL! I am not a rabid Williams fan. Look I am in no way saying Venus or Serena should outrank Graf all time. However at their peaks I think they could be competitive with Graf. Not on clay, Graf is better there. On grass and hard courts they could give Graf some good competition though.

Over-the-hill Graf beat Venus in Wimbledon 1999.And Serena won exactly 2 clay-court tournaments in her long career.Er, where do you think Venus/Serena were better than peak Graf?Serena on clay?Venus on grass?Or is it only your gut feeling as a rabid Williams fan ... ?

You know full well neither Venus or Serena were in their primes in 1999 either, especialy Serena. I mean come on now. Of course Steffi wasnt, we all know that, but neither were the sisters.

Venus and Serena were never as consistent as Graf. I dont deny that. However at their peak they focused in more on the biggest events and didnt care about the smaller ones. Venus also was only ever great on fast courts. She would give Steffi a real run on fast courts from 1999-2003 but nowhere else.

Venus lost - among others - to Dokic, Maleeva (twice), Schett, Shaughnessy (twice), Testud, Zvonareva in 2000-03.Do you really think Steffi Graf in her PEAK years would have had so many losses against journeywomen like these? Please, don't be retarded ...
Hoffenheim08 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
In 2000-03 Serena lost to Likhovtseva (3-6 3-6), Tauziat (5-7 2-6), Pierce (2-6 1-6), Capriati (4 times!), Suarez, Shaughnessy, Schnyder, Rubin among others.Peak Graf never would have done that.In 1999 Steffi was over the hill. Even then she overtook Venus and Serena in the WTA rankings ...

Venus and Serena would have been able to handle any women player from 2000-2003, including Graf. They are not the best players ever since they did not keep that standard of great tennis long enough. However during those years they were good enough to beat Steffi. Steffi by then was having trouble with a greener Venus and Serena in 1999. I agree with you regarding Seles though. Graf was in a slump and that was a bigger problem for her then Seles. Graf at her best is better.
